Phosphatidyl Choline

Phosphatidyl Choline (Lecithin) Benefits

Often known as the best supplement to aid memory and focus, Phosphatidyl Choline is often found in many top class vitamin supplements. It is found naturally in our body tissues and each of the human cells contains Lecithin. The higher concentrations are to be found in the brain area – this is why supplementing the Phosphatidyl Choline levels may increase focus and mental precision. Our body is capable of producing lecithin on its own, but it also uses it up at a fast rate. This is why the lecithin levels may decrease, especially when demanding physical or mental tasks are performed. In order to help our own bodies perform better and carry out their tasks as efficiently as possible we must consider acquiring some lecithin supplements.

Phosphatidyl Choline is made of phosphatides and it can be found in some foods, with the most famous being the Soya bean. Lecithin works by aiding the body to produce another substance – acetycholine – that triggers the spark of the nerve endings. Without these nerves functioning at full capacity the brain doesn’t receive the feedback from the body parts as promptly. This makes the brain responses slower too, resulting in delayed responses to outside stimuli. Low levels of lecithin may lead to an overloaded nervous system that affects the well being of the whole body. For this reason, Phosphatidyl Choline medication is often used with patients suffering from deficiencies in their neurotransmitter systems.

Students are probably the biggest fans of lecithin, especially during their exam periods. However, anyone can benefit from a Phosphatidyl Choline supplement, which leads to improved memory and faster mental connections resulting in faster and clearer thinking. It is important to know that approximately 28% of brain matter is predominantly formed of lecithin. The most common side effects of lack of lecithin are temporary amnesia and delayed responses. These problem can be overcome by an adequate supply of lecithin, accompanied by a healthy life style and balanced diet.

Other illnesses where Phosphatidyl Choline plays a crucial role are heart conditions and gall-bladder problems. Patients suffering from arteriosclerosis will also find it useful, as it breaks down the fat cells in their blood and improves blood flow. This leads to a very low cholesterol count and, consequently, to a healthier and more energetic body. Preventing such problems is also advisable and, even if you do not experience any of the above-mentioned difficulties, you can still put lecithin to good use. There are only positive aspects related to having a good blood circulation – which, in turn, increases your body’s immunity. Fat soluble vitamins, such as the A, D and E ones should complement the lecithin intake for the best results.

There are other applications of Phosphatidyl Choline, such as beauty and skin care products. Using lecithin in different medications and ointments may increase skin tone and improve the overall health of the skin tissues.
